Routines are tricky. Some either really like them and stick with them every day, never missing a beat. Or you’re like me and get bored of routine quickly and need change. Routines can be a good thing. They help us accomplish daily tasks and goals, they keep us moving forward throughout the day keeping us balanced. They can also cripple our motivation and keep us from experiencing new things. They can keep us from accomplishing our dreams by keeping us too comfortable.

The term balance means “an even distribution of weight enabling someone or something to remain upright and steady.” Essentially Balance keeps us from falling, but often times we must fall to learn how to fly. We grow from falling, we learn from falling, we experience life from falling.

Routines are comfortable, which is why we typically stick with them. Comfort often holds us back from achieving our goals and living the life we truly dream of living. Getting out of the habit of daily routines can be quite the challenge. We have programmed ourselves to live the same day every day without allowing change to take place. We are limiting ourselves. I know that we need some routine, however, it’s essential to  Allow change to take you outside the box. Allow change to give you a new perspective.

Embrace change and changing routines! The spontaneous decisions will make things fun and interesting. They help us grow and create. Make things interesting in the week ahead and see how things change.

Let go of the idea that you must be the person that you have always been.

– “Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” – Albert Einstein
