I use the word adventure often because It’s a word that has so much meaning behind it. Adventure does not necessarily mean climbing the highest mountain, backpacking through rough terrain or buying a one-way ticket around the world ( although all of which are on my bucket list). Adventuring is the desire to alter your life, to reach beyond your comfort zone.
Some may find adventure in reading a new book, trying a new restaurant, moving to a new state, visiting a place they’ve never been, walking a trail in the woods behind their house, sitting in a field watching the sunset, and so much more. Adventure is all around us and comes in so many forms, we just have to open our eyes and see it.
The definition of adventure reads: “engaging in an unusual and exciting typically hazardous, experience or activity.” Well, that describes part of it, but it’s also seeing ordinary and turning it into extraordinary. Finding beauty in all that surrounds us and facing every experience good or bad head-on. It’s about finding solace in the unknown and doing things that you may not normally do. It’s about Looking at the fun in the journey more than the actual destination.
This year I have focused on finding new adventures. Traveling more, putting my self out there more, opening my mind to new possibilities, exploring new ways of living that I may not have been comfortable with in the past. This blog is an adventure that I began this year. I knew nothing about blogging, other than reading others. I did not know where to start or what all was involved but I knew that I wanted to do it regardless of the unknown.
What are some of the things you’ve done this year that you may have thought you’d never do? I encourage you to make a list of 3 adventures that you really want to pursue within the next year and go for it, with no hesitation!
Find what brings you joy and do it every day regardless of the unknown. Find your adventure(s)!!
