Chattanooga is one of my favorite cities to visit. If you’re looking for mountain views, vibrant city life, great food, and entertainment, Chattanooga Tennessee is the place!
We stayed at a really cute Air b&b in St. Elmo, about 7 min from downtown. It wasn’t quite what I was expecting, could have used some TLC but when you’re traveling you have to expect the unexpected. The majority of our time was spent in the mountains and in the city!
Our first night there we picked up food and stayed in with Cam (our Chihuahua mix) who joined us on the trip as well. We wanted to stay in with him the first night so he could get used to the place. We try to travel with him as much as we can, he loves adventuring just as much as we do! We were also pretty tired from the drive and wanted to get a good rest for the following day.
Day 1 we woke up early and headed to an exemplary coffee shop down the road from our Air b&b. We then walked through the city and took in all the scenery and had a small lunch at Whole Foods. That evening we had awesome vegan Tacos at Taco Mamacita on the North Shore and attended a Chattanooga Lookouts baseball game (The Lookouts Won!) with extravagant fireworks following.
Day 2 we had planned a full day of kayaking. My husband rock climbs and knew of a spot with bluffs that you can climb and jump off of. What we didn’t plan for was kayaks with missing plugs and no backrest and about a 6-mile paddle. There was a moment where I was in the middle of the open water and looked out at all the surrounding mountains and felt so small, it was incredible! Needless to say, we were both exhausted, sunburnt, and sore but it was well worth it. That night we enjoyed a really good dinner at a local favorite The Feed Co. and took Cam for an evening walk through the city.
Day three we had a phenomenal brunch at 1885 Grill. Trust me, you do not want to skip brunch at 1885! Afterward, we ventured to the aquarium. I’ve heard amazing things about the Chattanooga Aquarium and new I had to check it out. Everything I heard was accurate! We had so much fun seeing all the fish that we may have encountered while kayaking haha. The Aquarium is so big that it really is an all-day adventure, so plan accordingly. For our last meal in Chatt, we went to one of our favorite local joints Lupis Pizza.
Day 4 we packed up, grabbed a small breakfast and made our way back to Virginia.
Our anniversary trip was nothing short of amazing and memorable with a few unexpected moments!! It’s the unexpected moments in traveling that make for great memories for years to come.
We are ready to begin planning the next trip…….
